The objective of the Offshore Emergency Response Team Member (OERTM) Further course is to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to maintain their competence in responding to emergency situations offshore. This course is designed for individuals who have already completed the initial OERTM training and need to refresh their skills.

Key objectives include:

  1. Refreshing Emergency Response Skills: Reinforcing the key roles and responsibilities of an Emergency Response Team Member (ERTM), including responding to various emergency scenarios like fires, gas releases, and casualties.
  2. Advanced Teamwork and Communication: Emphasizing the importance of effective teamwork and communication within the emergency response team and with other offshore personnel.
  3. Handling of Fire and Non-Fire Incidents: Enhancing proficiency in the safe and effective handling of both fire and non-fire-related offshore emergencies.
  4. Use of Equipment: Updating participants on the use and maintenance of firefighting and rescue equipment, ensuring they remain familiar with operational procedures.
  5. Scenario-Based Training: Engaging participants in realistic offshore emergency simulations to practice decision-making, leadership, and safe working practices in high-pressure environments.

By the end of the OERTM Further course, participants should be able to demonstrate competence in responding to emergencies, ensuring the safety of personnel and the integrity of the offshore installation.

Practical Exercises

TARGET AUDIENCE

For existing offshore emergency team members that are required to revalidate their OPITO OERTM certification by completing training scenarios which they are unable undertake offshore.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Learners must meet basic medical fitness requirements such as:

A. A valid, current offshore medical certificate

OR

B. An operator approved medical certificate

OR

C. Undergoes medical screening by
completing an appropriate medical
screening form provided by IMOSTI, Inc.

TRAINING PRE-REQUISITE

A. A valid OPITO Offshore Emergency Response Team Member certificate

OR

B. A valid OPITO Offshore Emergency Response Team Member Further Training certificate
