Objectives: The Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) course aims to provide offshore personnel with the essential safety skills and knowledge to work and respond effectively in an offshore environment.

Here are the key objectives of the training:

1. Safety Induction

Familiarize trainees with the offshore environment, including health and safety regulations, workplace hazards, and safety management systems, to ensure they understand the basics of working safely offshore

2. Emergency Response Training:

Equip trainees with the necessary skills to respond to different types of emergencies that may occur offshore, including evacuation procedures, muster stations, and alarms.

3. Helicopter Safety and Escape:

Train participants on helicopter safety procedures, including pre-flight requirements, in-flight safety measures, and emergency escape techniques in case of ditching, with a focus on using the CA-EBS during a helicopter emergency.

4. Sea Survival Techniques:

Teach trainees survival skills in the event of abandoning an offshore installation, including donning life jackets, launching and boarding life rafts, and using survival equipment effectively.

5. Firefighting and Self-Rescue:

Provide trainees with basic firefighting skills, including the use of portable fire extinguishers, and teach self-rescue techniques in smoke-filled or dark environments.

6. Use of CA-EBS:

Train participants on the correct use of the Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System, including donning the device, conducting safety checks, and understanding how to use it in an emergency helicopter evacuation scenario.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Learners must meet basic medical fitness requirements such as:

A. Evidence of valid, current offshore medical certificate

OR

B. Possess an employing company approved medical certificate equivalent to an offshore medical certificate

AND

C. Undergoes medical screening by completing an appropriate medical screening form provided by the IMOSTI, Inc.

AND

D. Be able to self-certify their fitness to train on the day of in-water HUET activities

gas, and renewable energy industries.
