Dynamic Positioning Refresher
The objective of the Dynamic Positioning (DP) Refresher Course is to provide participants with an opportunity to refresh and update their knowledge and skills related to dynamic positioning operations. The course focuses on reviewing fundamental DP principles, operational procedures, and the use of DP systems, ensuring that participants are up to date with the latest industry standards and technological advancements.
Specifically, the objectives are:
- Reinforce DP Knowledge: Refresh participants’ understanding of DP principles, system components, and operational modes.
- Update on New Technologies: Introduce new technologies, software updates, and equipment improvements related to DP systems.
- Improve Operational Skills: Enhance participants’ ability to operate DP systems under normal, degraded, and emergency conditions.
- Review Industry Standards: Ensure knowledge of the latest industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices for DP operations.
- Hands-on Simulation: Provide hands-on experience with DP simulators to practice various scenarios, including fault-finding and emergency procedures.
This course is designed for individuals who have prior DP certification or experience and need to maintain their competencies in line with industry and company requirements.

TARGET AUDIENCE
The DP Refresher course is intended for those who have already been issued a DPO Certificate from the NI and required to refresh their knowledge about DP or need to completed high DP simulator because they are on DP 24/7 The overall course aim is to update the DPOs with the latest rules and regulations, position references and sensors, known DP incidents and lessons learned.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum entry requirement is a DPO Certificate issued by the NI. The original DPO Certificate should be presented at the DP center where the DP Refresher Course is completed. The DP Refresher and Competency Assessment Course may be completed at any time as required.
