The objective of Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader (HERTL) Further Training is to provide participants who have previously completed initial HERTL training with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to lead a Helideck Emergency Response Team in the event of an offshore helicopter emergency.

This training focuses on:

  1. Maintaining competence in emergency response leadership, 
  2. Reinforcing effective decision-making, 
  3. Communication, and coordination skills, and 
  4. Refreshing practical knowledge in managing fire, rescue, and evacuation scenarios.

It aims to ensure that participants can effectively fulfill their responsibilities in high-pressure situations, ensuring the safety of all personnel involved.

TARGET AUDIENCE

For currently-appointed OPITO-certified HERTLs that are required to revalidate their OPITO HERTL certification by refreshing and updating their knowledge and skills in aspects of their role that they cannot practice in the workplace.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A. A valid, current offshore medical certificate

OR

B. An operator approved medical certificate

AND

C. Undergoes medical screening by
completing an appropriate medical
screening form provided by IMOSTI, Inc.

TRAINING PRE-REQUISITE

A. A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency
Response Team Leader Training Certificate.

OR

B. A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency
Response Team Leader Further Training Certificate

OR

C. A valid OPITO Helideck Operations Initial Training certificate and a valid Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) certificate and a valid Offshore Emergency Response Team leader (OERTL) Certificate.
