The objective of Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader (HERTL) Initial Training is to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and understanding to lead a team in responding effectively to helicopter and helideck emergencies on offshore installations.

The training focuses on:

  1. Understanding the roles and responsibilities of a HERTL.
  2. Coordinating helicopter and helideck emergency response activities.
  3. Leading a Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) during emergency scenarios, including fire, evacuation, or other incidents.
  4. Effective communication with emergency services and command structures.
  5. Safe deployment and use of emergency equipment and procedures during helicopter-related incidents.

This training ensures that individuals are competent to lead the emergency response team effectively in safeguarding personnel and assets during helicopter operations.

TARGET AUDIENCE

For personnel who are to be appointed to the role of a Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader (HERTL).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Learners must meet basic medical fitness requirements such as:

A. A valid, current offshore medical
certificate 

OR

B. An operator approved medical certificate

AND

C. Undergoes medical screening by
completing an appropriate medical
screening form provided by IMOSTI, Inc.

TRAINING PRE-REQUISITE

A. A valid OPITO Helideck Operations Initial Training certificate

AND

B. A valid Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA)
Initial Training Certificate or a valid
Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer
(HLO) Training Certificate
