The objective of Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) Initial Training is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge, and understanding required to respond effectively to helicopter and Helideck emergencies in an offshore environment.

The training aims to prepare participants for roles that involve:

  1. Responding to helicopter incidents, including fire and rescue situations.
  2. Assisting with passenger evacuation and ensuring the safety of all personnel during a helicopter-related emergency.
  3. Effectively using firefighting equipment and other safety tools.
  4. Understanding the responsibilities and procedures during helicopter & Helideck emergency scenarios.

The focus is on practical skills, teamwork, and ensuring that all participants are prepared to respond efficiently in an offshore helicopter emergency situation.

For personnel who are to be
appointed to the role of the
Helideck Emergency Response
Team Member (HERTM).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Learners must meet basic medical fitness requirements such as:

A. A valid, current offshore medical certificate

OR

B. An operator approved medical certificate

AND

C. Undergoes medical screening by completing an appropriate medical screening form provided by IMOSTI, Inc.

TRAINING PRE-REQUISITE

A valid OPITO Helideck Operations
Initial Training Certificate

OR

A valid Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA)
Initial Training Certificate

OR

A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Training Certificate

OR

A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Further Training Certificate
