The objective of the Shallow Water Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively use a Dry CA-EBS in the event of an emergency.
Specifically, the course aims to:
- Familiarize with CA-EBS:
Introduce participants to the components and functioning of a CA-EBS, including its purpose and limitations.
2. Correct Donning Procedures:
Teach participants how to correctly don the CA-EBS, ensuring a proper fit and seal.
3. Practical Usage:
Provide practical experience in using the CA-EBS, including pre-use checks and emergency deployment procedures.
4. Improve Emergency Preparedness:
Build participant skills in responding calmly and effectively to emergency situations, focusing on the use of CA-EBS for controlled evacuations and survival during helicopter emergency in water or sea.
5. Safety and Best Practices:
Reinforce the importance of safety measures and best practices when using CA-EBS, ensuring participants can respond confidently and safely during an emergency
The course aims to enhance personal safety and increase survival chances during emergency evacuations, making participants more prepared for situations where a CA-EBS is required.

VALIDITY
The Shallow Water CAEBS ID certificate is valid for up to four years but will only remain valid in conjunction with a valid OPITO T-BOSIET, T-FOET, T-HUET, BOSIET, FOET or HUET with EBS (or Industry agreed equivalent) certificate. Revalidation of Shallow Water CAEBS ID training must be achieved through subsequent OPITO T-BOSIET with CA-EBS, T-FOET with CA-EBS, T-HUET with CA-EBS or BOSIET/FOET/HUET with CA-EBS certification.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Personnel traveling to or working on offshore installations or vessels where CA-EBS may be required, especially those using helicopter transport.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Learners must meet basic medical fitness requirements such as: A. Evidence of valid, current offshore medical certificate OR B. Possess an employing company approved medical certificate equivalent to an offshore medical certificate AND C. Undergoes medical screening by completing an appropriate medical screening form provided by the IMOSTI, Inc., and Be able to self-certify their fitness to train on the day of in-water HUET activities
TRAINING PRE-REQUISITE
Learners must possess a valid OPITO T-BOSIET/T-FOET/T-HUET, BOSIET/FOET/HUET with EBS (or Industry agreed equivalent) certificate prior to attending the OPITO Shallow Water Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System Initial Deployment Training.
