The objective of a TSbB (Travel Safely by Boat) course is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to travel safely to and from offshore installations by boat.

The course aims to:

  1. Ensure Safety Awareness:

Develop awareness of the hazards and risks associated with offshore boat trave and transfer to and from platforms, and promote the importance of safety procedures during transit.

 

2. Equip with Safety Skills:

Teach participants how to respond appropriately in case of emergencies, including abandonment situations, using safety equipment such as life vests, immersion suits, and emergency signaling devices.

3. Familiarize with Boat Procedures:

Introduce participants to the safety protocols, boarding procedures, and emergency response systems used on offshore vessels, ensuring familiarity and compliance with offshore standards.

4. Enhance Confidence and Preparedness:

Build confidence in traveling by boat, and prepare individuals to deal with any unexpected situations during transit in a calm and efficient manner.

 

The course is designed to meet industry standards and ensure the competency of personnel involved in offshore boat transfers.

TARGET AUDIENCE

New entrants and all personnel currently travelling and transferring by boat to an offshore installation.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Learners must meet basic medical fitness requirements such as:

A. A valid, current offshore medical certificate

OR

B. An employing company approved medical certificate equivalent to an offshore medical certificate

OR

C. Undergoes medical screening by completing an appropriate medical screening form provided by IMOSTI, Inc.

TRAINING PRE-REQUISITE

Learners who are in possession of a current BOSIET(with EBS), FOET(with EBS), HUET (with EBS), Tropical BOSIET, Tropical FOET, Tropical HUET, BOSIET (with CA-EBS), HUET (with CA-EBS) or FOET (with CA-EBS) are not required to participate in practical life raft and in-water sea survival exercises.
