Helideck Emergency Response Team Member Training (HERTM 7041)

This Course is for personnel who are to be appointed to the role of the Helideck Emergency Response Team
Member (HERTM). All personnel joining the course should have a valid (in-date) :
a.  OPITO Helideck Operations Initial Training Certificate or a valid Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) Initial Training Certificate or a valid Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) Training Certificate
OR
b. OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Training Certificate
OR
c. A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Further Training Certificate . The personnel should be certified medically-fit to ensure that they are physically and mentally capable to participate in the practical exercises.

This Product aims to equip Offshore Helideck emergency response personnel with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to perform an emergency response team member role in offshore helideck and helicopter emergencies. Proper procedure in firefighting and other helideck emergency scenarios are identified and practiced. The main objectives are for learners to fully understand the role and responsibilities of a Helideck Emergency Response Team Member and practice responding to a variety of helideck firefighting and non-firefighting emergency scenarios in a training environment.

Training delivery uses theoretical discussion and practical exercises. Practical exercises involve the Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (OHLO) and other team members. The different exercises are the use of the handheld radio, familiarization with Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and the operation of fixed and mobile equipment for firefighting. Completion of the course means that the trainees pass the written examination and the skills demonstration. A Certificate of Completion (COC) that is valid for two years and registered on OPITO Central Register is earned at the end of the course.

Offshore Emergency Response Team Member (OERTM 4500)

This training course is intended for all personnel who are and would become an OERTM. The personnel should be certified medically-fit to ensure that they are physically and mentally capable to participate in the practical exercises.
The course provides trainees the awareness and knowledge on safety and emergency response in the offshore installation, platform, drill rig and Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. It also highlights the need for hazard identification and control, and implementation of proper procedure in firefighting and other offshore emergency scenarios.
Training delivery uses theoretical discussion and practical exercises. Practical exercises involve the Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader (OERTL) and other team members. The different exercises are the use of the handheld radio, familiarization with Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and the operation of mobile and foam branch equipment for firefighting. Completion of the course means that the trainees pass the written examination and the skills demonstration. A Certificate of Completion (COC) that is valid for two years and registered on OPITO Central Register is earned at the end of the course.

Helideck Operations Initial Training Standard (HLO and HDA Initial Training)
(HOIT 7040)

This Product is for personnel who are to be appointed to the role of an Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and/or Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) . The personnel should be certified medically-fit to ensure that they are physically and mentally capable to participate in the practical exercises.

As a minimum, learners must have completed Dangerous Goods by Air training course in accordance with Part 1, Chapter 1.4 of the ICAO Technical Instructions and sub section 1.5 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, Category 7, 8 or 9 or state aviation approved dangerous goods awareness training course.

This Course aims to equip the learner with the initial knowledge, understanding and skills required to perform the roles of Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) safely and effectively.

Training delivery uses theoretical discussion and practical exercises. Practical exercises include the use of radio checks, communication protocol, proper hand signals and physical check of the helideck. Completion of the course means that the trainees pass the written examination and the skills demonstration. A Certificate of Completion (COC) that is valid for two years and registered on OPITO Central Register is earned at the end of the course.
